The final stand against the Chronarchists! The Hulk returns to present- day--but which Hulk? And whatever became of Bruce Banner?

Indestructible Hulk #15 eBook Mark Waid Matteo Scalera Mukesh Singh

I love the absolute absurdity of comics, with its time travel, talking monkeys, and cookie-loving aliens. However, there are certain times when the crazy stuff gets a little too abstract for my liking, and The Indestructible Hulk #15 is one of those instances.

Time travel is a difficult thing to get right, and I feel that about 90% of this story arc has handled it well. Unfortunately, the ending is a little bit of a mess. However, there are some interesting new additions thrown into the mix, such as Betty’s return and the fact that something about the gamma bomb explosion remains changed. The next story should be quite interesting.

Art-wise, this issue benefits from the fact that Kim Jacinto handles the whole thing from beginning to end. However, Jacinto’s style adds to the chaotic feel of this story. That’s arguably a good thing, since it really makes it feel like time is ripping apart at the seams. However, it also makes it harder to understand exactly what’s going on, adding to my general sense of confusion about the issue and my disappointment that the story uses way too many contrivances in rushing to an ending.

Overall, The Indestructible Hulk #15 is an okay ending for a story that has helped this book improve somewhat. Hopefully the next issue will give us a break from the chaos and go back to some quality character building and concepts that aren’t quite so abstract.

Indestructible Hulk #15 eBook Mark Waid Matteo Scalera Mukesh Singh Reviews

This book closes out Hulk's time travelling adventures with Banner without Hulk powers but with all his memories having to set things right. It was a little confusing. Maybe it could have been done better with 12 extra pages, but it was satisfactory.
